Chuck Joseph is Chief Executive Officer, President, and a member of the Board of Directors for Hemisphere GNSS, Inc. Mr. Joseph has over 30 years of executive leadership experience across multiple industries, serving in corporate officer and Board of Director capacities for multiple startup companies as well as several multinational Fortune 1000 enterprises. He has been intimately involved in successful fund raising, IPO, and M&A activities throughout his career.
Prior to joining Hemisphere GNSS Mr. Joseph served as President and Chief Operating Officer of nusola™, Inc., an energy technology company he co-founded and where he continues to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board. Before founding nusola™, Mr. Joseph held senior executive positions with companies serving customers in GNSS OEM and direct sales market segments including survey and mapping, GIS, machine control, marine, avionics, personal (mobile) navigation, and tracking systems. Mr. Joseph’s GNSS experience includes executive leadership positions at Trimble Navigation, Magellan / Ashtech, Leica Geosystems, and numerous advisory and Board of Directors positions with car navigation, tracking systems, machine control, and mobile handset corporations utilizing position centric technologies.
Mr. Joseph holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Marquette University.
Prior to joining Hemisphere GNSS, Dr. Whitehead worked at Hemisphere GPS (now AgJunction, Inc.). Dr. Whitehead leads the development of advanced GPS products, including centimeter level positioning and attitude determination systems. He is the author of numerous patents related to GPS. Prior to joining Hemisphere GPS (now AgJunction, Inc.), Dr. Whitehead was Senior Scientist at Satloc Inc. Dr. Whitehead implemented virtually all of the algorithms and associated software for a wide area differential GPS network (WADGPS), providing real-time, sub-meter position corrections to GPS users in the field. Dr. Whitehead also served in similar capacities with IPEC/Athens Corporation and General Dynamics. Dr. Whitehead holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Honors, a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Prior to joining Hemisphere GNSS, Brad worked at Hemisphere GPS (now AgJunction, Inc.) as Senior Supply Chain Leader. He was promoted in 2009 to Director, Global Supply Chain, and more recently to Director of Operations. Brad has held numerous senior roles in various Operations, M & A, Manufacturing, Materials, and Supply Chain roles for over 30 years with Unisys, Solectron, Flextronics, Nortel, General Electric, Eaton-Cutler Hammer, along with 6 years running his own consulting business. He is a Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) designate with an extensive background in Electronics, Manufacturing, Contract Manufacturing, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management, with extensive experience in both tactical and strategic requirements.
As Corporate Controller, Shelley Chen is responsible for all functional accounting back office operations and the financial reporting. Shelley brings an extensive range of experience to the position, including broad operational expertise; a strong financial background and in-depth knowledge of International Business in Technology.
Previously Shelley worked for Insight Enterprises, a $5B public company, where she was instrumental in the growth and development of the Professional Services Management group. As Finance Manager Shelley managed all financial and administrative activity for the IT Services business unit where she led the team where their IT Services area became a leading partner for many companies throughout the globe. Prior to joining Insight Enterprises, Shelley spent several years in finance and operations, serving as Operations Controller, at a wholesale distribution company and Accounting Manager for a manufacturing company. Shelley began her accounting career at Motorola Semiconductor in Hong Kong and progressed to diverse roles within the company. In 2000 she moved to Arizona with Motorola in their Freescale Semiconductor sector and continued with them for another 7 years. By working in different industries and multinational companies, she gained solid experiences in operations and finance.
A graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shelley holds a B.A. in Accounting and is a Certified and Chartered Accountant in the UK. She is also fellow member of the Association of Certified and Chartered Accountant (ACCA) in the UK. Additionally Shelley received her MBA from WP Carey Business School of Arizona State University in 2004.
Jon Ladd is a precision GPS/GNSS and wireless industries veteran with over 30 years of development and management experience. Jon began his GPS adventure in 1982 working with Chuck Counselman and his MIT team on the world's first commercial geodetic GPS surveying system: The Macrometer™. Jon serves in a variety of advisory and director positions, including: Senior Advisor to the CEO and a board member at Novariant, Inc. in Fremont, California and as Senior Advisor to the CEO of Beijing UniStrong Science and Technology Co. Ltd. Jon was CEO and Chairman of the Board of Brilliant Telecommunications, Inc. from December 2009 to February 2011. Prior to that Jon served as Special Advisor to the CEO of Hexagon, AB and he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of NovAtel Inc. (NASDAQ:NGPS) from February 2002 to December 2008. Hexagon purchased NovAtel in December 2007. Prior to leading NovAtel, Mr. Ladd served as Senior Vice President, Engineering at Thales Navigation. Prior to Thales purchasing Magellan Corporation, Jon held a variety of positions at Magellan including President of Magellan's Russian subsidiary, Ashtech A/O, Senior Vice President of Advanced Technology and Vice President and General Manager of the Ashtech Precision Products Business Unit. Jon also served in a number of executive positions at Ashtech, Inc. starting in 1990 including Vice President of Surveying and Navigation Systems, Vice President of Engineering and Vice president of Marketing until the merger with Magellan Corporation. Jon has also held a variety of board seats including Trusted Positioning Inc. in Calgary, Alberta until its sale to Invensense, Nexteq Navigation in Calgary, Alberta until its amalgamation into Hemisphere GNSS, RF Monolithics (NASDAQ:RFMI) until its sale to Murata of Japan and Brilliant Telecommunications Inc. until the sale to Juniper Networks. Jon also served as Executive Director at NovAtel Inc., and was a director at Point Inc. (a joint venture between NovAtel and Sokkia of Japan) until Sokkia's sale to Topcon. Jon received a B.S.S.V.E with distinction in Surveying Engineering from the University of Maine in 1980 and is a member of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society.
Werner Gartner has over 23 years executive/board experience with technology based businesses, primarily in the GPS/GNSS and wireless sector. Currently, in addition to his role as board member and advisor with Hemisphere GNSS, Mr. Gartner serves on the board of directors and/or advises several technology companies, including Trusted Positioning Inc., Psyko Audio Labs and Wedge Networks. He is a member of the Business Advisory Committee of Tecterra Inc., a government (Canada) funded organization mandated to spur the development and commercialization of geomatics technologies. In addition, Mr. Gartner is a member of the A100, an organization composed of technology company founders and entrepreneurs, whose focus is to grow the Alberta technology sector.
Previously, Mr. Gartner was part of the management team at NovAtel Inc. (NASDAQ:NGPS) from 1990 to 2007 that successfully grew its GPS based business from a divisional start-up to a market leader. As CFO, he was a key to NovAtel Inc.’s IPO in 1997 on NASDAQ, and its subsequent increase in market value from US $50M to US $450M, prior to its acquisition by Hexagon AB. In addition, Mr. Gartner previously held a variety of board seats, including NovAtel Inc., Point Inc., (a joint venture between NovAtel and Sokkia of Japan) until Sokkia’s merger with Topcon, Mezure Inc., and Dynastream Innovations until its sale to Garmin Ltd in 2006. Mr. Gartner received a B.Sc. from the Western University in Ontario, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto and is a Certified Management Accountant.
Rodger Conner is a lawyer with over 35 years of experience in corporate and commercial law both in private practice and in industry. Prior to establishing Conner & Conner Professional Corporation, Rodger was a partner with McCarthy Tetrault, a national Canadian law firm. Prior to that Rodger was Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Bralorne Resources Limited. Over the course of his career Rodger has advised a number of clients in the GPS/GNSS field. Rodger has provided legal advice to both private and publicly listed companies. Rodger received his law degree from the University of Alberta in 1975.
